Thank you to everyone that has already registered for COPA For Kids Chatham-Kent 2019. We are very sorry if you cannot find a seat on a flight, we can only accommodate so many children in one day.
Please feel free to check the registration website frequently since we often have cancellations that will open up additional seats for you.
We do not maintain a waiting list, so it is first come first serve on the booking website.
Booking will be closed on the 6th of September, 2019 to allow us to complete boarding passes for each child.

Hey Kids! Have you ever wanted to go for a flight in a small airplane? Have you ever wondered what makes an airplane “go”? Now’s your chance to find out…for FREE!
Registration will open up on the 24th of August, 2019, we will not preregister anyone prior to this date so please do not email use requesting us to do so.
On Saturday,September 7th, 2019, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chatham Kent Municipal Airport the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) Flight 203 is hosting a COPA for Kids 2019. Rain day of September 8th, 2019 has been planned should conditions not be favorable.
COPA for Kids Program provides, free of charge, an introduction for kids age 8-17 to the world of general aviation. Kids spend about 2 hours of their day learning a bit about airplanes, flying, and their local airport topped off with a flight in a small aircraft. To date, the program has introduced over 23,000 young Canadians to General Aviation.
The mission of the COPA for Kids Aviation Program is to provide a motivational aviation experience, focusing on an introductory flight in an aircraft.”
Who can participate? Any person between the ages of 8 and 17 can participate.
Participants must:
- Be 8-17 years old inclusive
- Submit an online registration form
- Have a waiver form signed by his/her parent or legal guardian.
- The waiver and registration forms are contained in COPA Flight 203 online registration module, available at https://cyck.copa70.com.
Participant Packages:
- Participants are broken down into two age groups: 8-13 and 14-17.
- Kids in the 8-13 age bracket receive the traditional flight certificate.
- Youth in the 14-17 age bracket receive a Pilot’s Logbook as well as complimentary access to online ground school for the Private Pilot’s License. Sponsored by Hangaaar, http://www.hangaaar.com, the course meets all of the Transport Canada requirements for ground school. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the Transport Canada written exam.
What Can You Expect on Flight Day:
- On flight day, kids will be welcomed by COPA flight 203 members at the Chatham Kent Municipal airport located at 8528 14th Line, RR 2 Merlin, Ontario.
- They will attend a short “ground school” course for a safety and orientation briefing, take a close-up tour of an airplane, then fly with their assigned aircraft and pilot.
- They will be given a log book and or a certificate with a signed record of their flight, suitable for framing. Hotdogs and soda will be provided at the end of the flight.
The COPA for Kids Program is sponsored by AIG Canada, the underwriters for the COPA VIP Gold and VIP Silver Aviation Insurance programs and delivered by our national network of COPA Flights.
